Forest Carbon Sinks!

March 4, 2024
Stephen Beam

All plants that use photosynthesis to generate sugars for growth take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This pulls carbon from the atmosphere and the tree stores it as wood in the trunk and roots, reducing carbon levels. Trees can store this carbon for decades and it can be stored longer in quality solid wood products such as flooring, framing lumber, furniture, mantles, etc. Not all forest sequester carbon at the same rates or in the same ways. Our forests in the Appalachian region are some of the bests. With proper forest management our forest will continue to pull carbon from the atmosphere and provide us with the highest quality hardwood lumber in the world.
